After its birth in early 2006 as a weekly Thursday night party in the now defunct Zumeroom, CONTORT YOURSELF moved in the summer of the same year to the more salubrious surroundings of The Roadhouse to a Saturday night shindig. Now loitering in the basement of one of Manchester finest and most intimate live venues CONTORT YOURSELF has paid host to some of the most memorable evenings of Manchester’s colourful musical history, including sell out live shows from THE WHIP, PNAU, PRIMARY 1, SOUTH CENTRAL, DRUMS OF DEATH, THE SHOES, KAP BAMBINO, AUTOKRATZ, PASSIONS, DAVID E. SUGAR and blistering Dj Sets from PUNKS JUMP UP, NIGHTMOVES, KLAXONS, TOMB CREW, NEW YOUNG PONY CLUB, VICARIOUS BLISS, THE BANG GANG DEEJAYS not to mention hosting the very first appearance of GOSSIP and CSS on the same stage!
Now fortnightly CONTORT YOURSELF has grown from strength to strength bringing Manchester the best in the new wave of live electronic dance music and face melting DJs from across the globe. Resident Djs join guests in dishing out a fortnightly helping of audio treasure mixing 8-Bit Beats, Jackin’ Electro, Cosmic Pop, Baltimore Bassline, Punk Funk, Fidget House and Dance Floor Classics. The passion and drive to bring Manchester something new has brought CY into the heart of Manchester’s nightlife securing themselves as bastions of the new wave of avaunt-dance.
