As a famous man once said “We’ve had a good run”… and we thank everyone who’s ever played or attended any of our parties. It’s all of you that have made Contort Yourself so special to us over the past four years, so Thank You.

We’re going to go out in true style with our NYE party at Night & Day this weekend. As you know the door price is LOW and there’ll be plenty of drinks offers on the night to help loosen your boots. You’ll be more than aware if you’ve been down to the cave in the last couple months that Tensnake’s Coma Cat is massive. So massive in fact that it can only be measured in comparison to football pitches (or double decker busses if you’re going for size, washing machines for weight).

However, nobody likes to repeat themselves (bar Soulwax perhaps) so it is with perfect timing that Round Table Knights (Contort Yourself guests way back in October ‘08 dontcha’ know) have sprinkled their brand of bumpy, tropical magic on the little blighter and spruced it up REAL nice.

Homesquires, I will be making making the exodus to Preston on behalf of Contort Yourself this weekend to say a fond farewell to Method, the haunting ground of one of my favourite most amazingly booze fuelled clubnights, BEATS! It definitely wasn’t as good as Coda, the venue that got me on my hands and knees puking in a bin at Travelodge after a rocksteady night with Drums of Death, but Method’s stil played a big part in Beats’ life journey. I’ve danced on the stage with Willy Wonka there, minesweeped a bunch of beers when they wouldnt serve me anymore and yes, passed out stone cold and woke up with my head in a toilet after playing a Haiti Fundraiser (lets not go there)….

All those emotions are gonna make a great feckin party, and with that party monster Hostage involved you know it’s gonna get intense! I’m kissing goodbye to Sunday right now.

Girls, girls, girls, girls… Then some more girls.

Gaggle are an occasionally 22-strong, all girl “alt.chior” and described by themselves as “AN ALTERNATIVE TO BURLESQUE, SHIT TV AND BAD BOY BAND WATCHING“. As alternatives go, that’s certainly one we’ve all been waiting for.

As far as the music goes expect mind-bending, feet-moving songs about Crows (Crows), Liars (Liar) and the excesses of society with the utterly spectacular I Hear Flies). The video for which you can find below.

Four Tet. Yes.

Kieran Hebden has been doing it for years. A former member of Fridge (well worth a listen) who enjoyed cult success in the late 90’s on Trevor Jackson’s now sadly defunct Output label, he started releasing music as Four Tet in 1998.

Today sees the release of his 5th full length studio album, ‘There is Love In You’. So to get you in the mood, here’s some of his finest work, including one of my all-time favourite remixes, a track from his recent collaboration with Burial and the EPIC lead single from TILIY.
